Keeping Your Floor Looking New

When most people purchase new flooring, they are determined to keep it looking brand new as long as they can. They make sure not to walk on it with dirty shoes, vacuum regularly and clean up spills the second they occur. But what happens when that determination starts to wear off? Should you lose the new floor look just because of everyday wear and tear? Fortunately, new technology is available to alleviate some of the hassles of caring for your flooring.

“We know how difficult it can be to keep your floors looking new, especially when you have children and pets,” said Ed Williams, senior vice president of marketing for Mohawk Industries, Inc. “Breakthrough technologies in flooring have helped to eliminate some of the worry about stains and heavy foot traffic.”

Mohawk Flooring, the world’s largest flooring manufacturer, offers hardwood flooring with Scotchgard Protector Advanced Repel Technology. This special technology helps prevent your toughest stains, including paint and nail polish, from sticking to your hardwood. Stains will come off by rubbing them with a dry tissue or by scraping the stain away when it dries. With this floor, you’ll worry less because the stain protection is guaranteed for the life of the finish.

Not only does Mohawk offer hardwood with Scotchgard Protector Technology, but you can also purchase carpet that combines the Scotchgard Protector Advanced Repel Technology with Wear-Dated carpet fiber. Wear-Dated fib

r is one of the most durable choices in carpet and is sure to stand the test of time. Combining the stain resistance of Scotchgard Protector with the durability of Wear-Dated results in a product you can trust.

What if you already have your perfect flooring? Maybe you just need something to help with everyday upkeep. Luckily, solutions aren’t just available for the consumer installing new flooring; homeowners now also have something to keep their current floors clean.

“Often times, homeowners will clean a stain in their carpet with a detergent-based carpet cleaner, only to find that stains just reappear,” said Brian Warren, President of FloorCare Concepts. “The great thing about a detergent-free cleaner is that no soapy residue is left behind to attract dirt and create more stains.”

Mohawk FloorCare Essentials is a revolutionary soap-free floor care cleaning system that is safe for all of the hard and soft surfaces in your home. The rinse-free, quick-drying product won’t leave behind soapy residue. Not only will it make your carpet cleaner, but it’s also free of harmful chemicals to ensure everyone and everything in your house stays safe. Great for periodic cleaning or emergency spills, Mohawk FloorCare Essentials can be used on wet or dry stains and can even be used on your countertops.

Tips for Maintaining Hard and Soft Surfaces

Carpet:
* Vacuum regularly.
* We recommend professional cleaning using the hot water extraction method every 12 to 18 months.
* Use mats or runners at all home entrances and on uncarpeted areas adjacent to carpet to reduce soil and moisture in traffic areas.
* Use furniture coasters to distribute the weight of heavy items.

Hard surface:
* Sweep floors regularly.
* Use protective mats at all exterior entrances.
* Never wet or damp mop your wood floors. Water can cause damage to wood flooring.
* Never use oil soaps, wax, wax liquids or other household products to clean your floor.
